Phil ‘the power’ Taylor features in tonight’s Premier League darts fixtures, playing James ‘the machine’ Wade. Raymond van Barneveld is also playing, against PDC World Championship runner-up Simon Whitlock. Mervyn King also plays tonight, against Ronnie Baxter, and Adrian Lewis is in action against Terry Jenkins.
Taylor is the favourite for his match, priced at 4/11 (bet £110 to make £40 profit). Wade is priced at 7/1 with Betfair, and the draw is at 6/1 with William Hill. An 8-3 or 8-5 win for Taylor is the favourite scoreline, followed by 8-4 at 5/1. Wade’s best hope is an 8-6 win, priced at 12/1 with Stan James.
The bookies have Whitlock and van Barneveld as almost exactly equal chances for the clash. Whitlock’s best price of 11/8, compared to van Barneveld’s of 7/5, makes him the slightest of favourites, although their prices are the same in most bookies. Victor Chandler offer 4/1 on the match being a draw.
Mervyn King is a comfortable favourite against Ronnie Baxter, priced at 1/2 for the win. Baxter is a 4/1 shot, and the draw is at 11/2 with Betfair. Lewis is a 4/5 favourite for his match, while Jenkins is at 11/4. The draw for that match is priced at 4/1.
In the outright betting, Phil Taylor is 1/8 to finish top, with Mervyn King second favourite at 9/1. Both players have won both their matches so far. Van Barneveld is at 18/1, having won one and drawn one, and Lewis is at 25/1. James Wade and Simon Whitlock are also at 25/1, and Jenkins is an 80/1 shot. Ronnie Baxter brings up the rear at 500/1 with Bet365.
The darts is broadcast on Sky Sports 1 from 7pm tonight.
