Premier League football betting – Hull City vs Arsenal

Posted in English Premiership, Soccer, Sports on March 13, 2010 @ 4:00 pm by Matt Knowles

Today’s Premier League match between Hull City and Arsenal sees two teams desperate for points for very different reasons. Hull are in real trouble at the bottom of the table and will need home wins if they are to avoid the drop. Arsenal, who crushed Porto 5-0 in midweek, are only two points behind league leaders Manchester United, in third place, and must keep the pressure up if they are to win one of the most exciting title races for some time.

Arsenal are favourites for the game at 4/9 (bet £90 to win £40 profit), leaving Hull as big underdogs at 8/1. The visitors have now own five of their last six matches in all competitions and have thoroughly recovered from back-to-back defeats by their rivals for the title. Hull, however, are in dire straights and have lost their last three matches, last out going down 5-1 to Everton at Goodison Park. The draw is available at 7/2, but Arsenal have only drawn once in fourteen home games this season.

The bookmakers believe Arsenal should have a fairly straightforward night and have made a 2-0 win for the visitors the most likely score for the match at 6/1, followed by 1-0 at 7/1 and 3-0 at 9/1. A 1-1 draw is available at the same price and 0-0 is at 16/1. A shock 1-0 win for Hull is at 20/1 with Paddy Power.

Nicklas Bendtner has been made favourite to open the scoring tonight after hitting a hat-trick in midweek and the Dane is 9/2 with Stan James to do the honours, with Andrei Arshavin generally available at the same price. Captain Cesc Fabregas is 5/1 and Brazilian-born Croatian Eduardo is 11/2 with Coral. Egyptian striker Amir Zaki is seen as Hull’s best chance of scoring the first goal of the match, priced at 10/1.

Arsenal are 23/20 with William Hill to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and 7/2 to win the match after drawing at half-time. Victor Chandler offer 7/1 that both halves end in a draw and Hull are 18/1 to be winning at the interval and the final whistle. Draw/Hull is available at the same price and Hull/Arsenal is at 28/1.

Arsene Wenger’s young side are third-favourites for the Premier League this season and at 11/4 they are very much in the hunt. Hull are looking to stave off relegation and the Tigers are now as short as 8/11 to be playing Championship football come August.
