The Champions Trophy is now underway, with Sri Lanka beating hosts South Africa by 55 runs, with Tillakaratne Dilshan scoring 106 runs.
Australia are now favourites for the tournament at 4/1 (bet $10 to win $40 profit), following South Africa’s defeat which leaves them needing to beat New Zealand to have any chance of qualifying from the group stage. India are second favourites at 11/2. South Africa’s new price is 6/1 as is Sri Lanka’s. Pakistan and New Zealand are priced at 7/1 and 15/1 respectively. England are 22/1 following their 6-1 thrashing by Australia in the recent ODI series. West Indies are 250/1 following being bowled out for 133 against Pakistan.
Group A consists of Australia, India, Pakistan and the West Indies and the Aussies are favourites to win the group at 13/8. India are at 9/5 whilst underdogs Pakistan and West Indies are at 11/4 and 13/1.
England are rated as least likely to win group B at 13/2, with Sri Lanka now favourites at 8/13. New Zealand and South Africa are at 9/2 and 11/2.
In the recent Triple Nation ODI series, India triumphed over Sri Lanka in the final, with New Zealand the other team taking part. Meanwhile the West Indies have been in terrible form, with big players such as Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Chris Gayle and Fidel Edwards refusing to play over a payment dispute. They lost 3-0 in a ODI series against Bangladesh in July. South Africa are worthy favourites and are the top ranked team in ODI’s after their series wins home and away against Australia.
