Nadal vs Gonzalez – US Open tennis quarter final betting

Posted in Tennis on September 10, 2009 @ 11:00 pm by Richard Hutchinson

Rafael Nadal meets Fernando Gonzalez in the US Open quarter finals this evening and the world no 3 is rated a 4/11 (Bet $110 to make $40 profit) favorite by bookmakers to win the match.

Gonzalez can be backed at a best price of 14/5 to progress to the semi-finals. You can back Nadal to win in straight sets at 15/8.

Nadal, who was considered unlikely to be fit enough to last through the tournament with his injured knee, has been playing very solid tennis and is now rated 5/1 second favorite to win the US Open. He comfortably beat Gael Monfils in the last round.

Gonzalez has a good record in the Grand Slam tennis events this year. He reached the fourth round of the Australian Open the semi finals of the French Open and the third round at Wimbledon. He was impressive in beating Joe-Wilfried Tsonga in the round of 32 and will fancy his chances against Nadal. Gonzalez is 50/1 to win the US Open.

Nadal leads the head-to-head records 6-3 but that figure is slightly misleading as Nadal has won their last five meetings.

Nadal is 11/4 to win 3-1 8/1 to win 3-2. Gonzalez is 12/1 to win in straight sets, 9/1 to win in four and 8/1 to win 3-2.
