The WGC CA Championship is a relatively new event. The tournament has been held only ten times and six of those were won by Tiger Woods. However, Tiger is not taking part this year, giving the chance for several of golf's biggest names to compete for $8.5 million purse on the 'Blue Monster' course at Doral, Miami, Florida. The course, a 7,266 Par 72, gets its name from the twelve water hazards it boast and it will be a real test for every player.

The Malaysian Open will be held this year at the Saujana Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur. The par 72 course is 7,000 yards long, with wide fairways and small greens. While many of the European Tour's top golfers are in Florida for the Honda Classic, there are still some very strong players out there and the event has been won before by the likes of Lee Westwood and Vijay Singh.

The Honda Classic is held at the PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and this year will welcome the participation of many of the World's best golfers. The course, redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 2001, is a 7,158 yard par-70 and the tournament has a total purse of $5.6 million, with $1,008,000 going to the winner.

The Phoenix Open tees off today at the Tournament Players Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, a 7,216 yard course with a par of 72. Several top golfers are involved this year, including Ian Poulter and Phil Mickelson, to compete for a prize pool of $6 million, with $1.08 million going to the winner. The field is made up of 132 players.

The Sony Open tees off tonight at the Waialae course in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Waialae has been the course for this tournament four forty-five years and is 7,044 yards long, having been designed in 1927. It will host the first full-field event of 2010 and 144 golfers will be competing for a purse of $5.5 million, with $990,000 to the winner.

The most lucrative event of the European Golf Tour tees off at the Earth, a new course designed by Greg Norman, at 12.30 local time in the United Arab Emirates.. The prize pool for the Dubai World Championship is $7.5 million with a further $7.5 bonus pool for those who finish in the top 15 of the Race to Dubai.

This week one hundred and thirty-two golfers will descend on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to compete in the Children's Miracle Network Classic for a prize pool of $4.7 million. The event is played Pro-am for the first two days, with one round on Magnolia and one on Palm, before the professionals play Magnolia for the final 36 holes.

The Hong Kong Golf Tour is held for the fiftieth year in a row at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling. One hundred and forty-four golfers will compete for $2.5 million in prize money across this 6,700 yard long par 70 course, including Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter and Colin Montgomerie.

Tiger Woods has made the long journey to Australia for the JBWere Masters, which represents a huge step forward for Australian Golf. The American is rumoured to have been paid twice the total prize money of A$1.5 million for his participation in the event, held at Kingston Heath for the first time having moved from Huntingdale, which has seen the tournament sell out and drawn crowds expected to be as large as 100,000.

The HSBC Champions trophy starts tomorrow in Shanghai at the Sheshan International. The course is 7,199 yards long and Par 72, with 78 players competing and $7 million in prize money up for grabs. Obstacles litter the course, with pine forests and difficult bunkers, many holes featuring canals, lakes or the quarry, fifty metres deep, over which holes 16 and 17 are played.
