The course, redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 2001, is a 7,158 yard par-70 and the tournament has a total purse of $5.6 million, with $1,008,000 going to the winner.

Ian Poulter has emerged as the clear favourite to win this year's Race to Dubai and is looking to become the second English player in two years to top the European Tour's money list. The HSBC Champions trophy starts tomorrow in Shanghai at the Sheshan International. The course is 7,199 yards long and Par 72, with 78 players competing and $7 million in prize money up for grabs. Obstacles litter the course, with pine forests and difficult bunkers, many holes featuring canals, lakes or the quarry, fifty metres deep, over which holes 16 and 17 are played.
