World Cup 2010 – England vs USA betting preview

It is a good thing Wayne Rooney has broad shoulders, as there needs to be room on them for both his short-tempered head and the World Cup hopes of a nation. The lack of discipline shown by England's most naturally gifted player had started to concern those both inside and outside the England camp and fans throughout the country will be hoping he remains on the pitch long enough to show the world what he can do.

Premier League football betting – Aston Villa vs Everton

Aston Villa continue their fading challenge for fourth place tonight as they host mid-table Everton in the Premier League. Martin O'Neill's side are looking to be the ones to break up the 'big four' monopoly on Champions League qualification from England but have seen their hopes diminish as a string of poor results has left them eight points behind Manchester City, albeit with a game in hand. Everton are currently eighth in the table and harbour no real hopes of finishing any higher this season.

Premier League football betting – Stoke vs Aston Villa

Aston Villa continue their quest for a top-four finish in the Premier League today as they travel to Stoke. Villa are one of many sides chasing a place in next season's Champion's League and are currently in seventh place, four points behind Tottenham in fourth, with two games in hand. Stoke are now safe from relegation, in eleventh place, and are just hoping to secure a mid-table finish.

FA Cup football betting – Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace

Aston Villa host Crystal Palace in the replay of their fifth-round FA Cup tie tonight. The first meeting between these two teams ended in a 2-2 draw after Villa twice came from behind, equalising in the 87th minute to force a replay. Palace, however, were furious as the goal came from a corner that should in face have been a goal kick. The cash-strapped Eagles hardly needed any more motivation for this match, however, and may fancy their chances with Martin O'Neill having to think ahead to his team's Carling Cup final against Manchester United this weekend.

Carling Cup football betting – Portsmouth vs Aston Villa

Portsmouth host Aston Villa tonight in the Carling Cup quarter finals and new Pompey boss Avram Grant will look for his first win as manager of the club. Grant succeeded Paul Hart after a poor run of form left tonight's hosts rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table with a pathetic seven points from fourteen games. Going into tonight's match they have lost their last three, most recently going down 4-1 at home to Manchester United. Villa aren't in great shape either with only one win in their last seven.

English Premiership betting – Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur

Aston Villa host Tottenham Hotspur this evening in a crucial clash for two of the clubs challenging for a top four spot this season. Villa managed to salvage a draw away at Burnley last weekend, whilst Spurs annihilated Wigan 9-1. Spurs have recovered from their 3-0 loss to rivals Arsenal, and look like they will mount a serious challenge to the established order of the Premiership.

English Premier League betting – Aston Villa vs Bolton Wanderers

Aston Villa host Bolton Wanderers this week, with the Trotters having been thrashed twice by Chelsea in their last two games. Villa have not been in great form either, failing to win in their last three games since they beat Chelsea. Villa are currently seventh in the league and they are one of a clutch of clubs hoping to take advantage of Liverpool’s weakness to qualify for the Champions League.

Barclays Premier League betting – West Ham vs Aston Villa

West Ham host top-four hopefuls Aston Villa tonight in a big game for both teams. West Ham started the season very poorly and sit second from bottom of the Premiership, win-less since the first day of the season despite scoring in all but two matches. The last two weeks, however, provide some hope as the Hammers held a free-scoring Arsenal side to a draw at Upton Park before earning a point at Sunderland. Aston Villa have started brightly and can boast wins over Chelsea and Liverpool already, but have won only one of their last five fixtures.
