Real Madrid look to keep their title chances alive as they travel to Almeria tonight in La Liga. After losing to Barcelona in the famous 'El Clasico' on Saturday Real find themselves chasing their rivals and they are now three points from top with an inferior goal difference. The race is far from over but it would almost definitely be too much to overcome if Madrid drop points tonight and after crashing out of both the Champions League and the Spanish Cup Manuel Pelligrini is in real danger of finishing the season with nothing, failing to justify his team's extraordinary summer expenditure.

Round two of El Clasico takes place this weekend at the Bernabeu, with the result likely to determine the winner of the title this year. Barcelona and Real Madrid are equal on points, but Madrid top the table on goal difference, where they are one goal ahead. They will have seven games left after the match on Saturday and Barca probably have the harder run in, with games against Villareal and Sevilla still to come.

The second largest derby in Spanish football is held tonight at the Santiago Bernabeu as Real Madrid host cross-city rivals Atletico. The four most expensive players in Madrid's side alone cost £200 million this summer but the Spanish Giants are facing yet another humiliating exit at this stage of the competition. Manuel Pelligrini's side have now gone top of La Liga but many believe the Chilean will need to deliver Europe's most prestigious title to keep his job.

Manchester United also got a tough draw with the news that they will play AC Milan in their first knockout match.
