Diego Maradona's Argentina take on Germany tonight, as both sides look to get their World Cup preparations under way. After finishing third in the 2006 World Cup and runners up in Euro 2008, Germany will be looking to continue that trend and go on to win in South Africa.

European champions Barcelona travel to Stuttgart tonight, as they continue their defence of the Champions League. Barca came through top in a tough group, with Inter Milan and Rubin Kazan providing stern opposition. Since their last European match, Barca have been in fine form, winning the Club World Championship and staying at the top of La Liga.

After a long wait, the knock-out round of the Champions League starts tomorrow, with matches between AC Milan and Manchester United, and Lyon and Real Madrid, before the other matches this week or next week. Teams have fared differently during the break since their last European matches, and will go into these fixtures with differing degrees of confidence.

Barcelona host Getafe tonight in La Liga, hoping to extend their five point lead at the top of the table ahead of Real Madrid's clash with Espanyol. Barcelona have won their last four league games since their 1-1 draw with Villareal, and Getafe have only won one of their last five games in all competitions.

Current league leaders Barcelona travel to Tenerife, looking to get over their recent slump and get back to winning ways. They succumbed to a 2-1 Spanish Cup loss to Sevilla midweek, as well as being held to a draw by Villareal last weekend. They now face an uphill struggle to defend their Copa del Rey [...]

Tonight's Copa del Rey match sees Barcelona take on Sevilla in what is easily the best match of the round. Barcelona won the trophy as part of their historic treble last season and they will want to make the most of their home advantage in the first leg. Barca are currently two points ahead of Real Madrid in La Liga, but they drew at home to Villareal last weekend and will look to get back to winning ways tonight.

Barcelona are bidding to improve on their current status as Spanish and European champions, and become world champions by winning today's Club World Championship final against South American champions Estudiantes. Barcelona will be buoyed by the news of their Champions League draw, which sees them pitted against Stuttgart, and they will be keen to return to Spain as World Champions.
