Arsenal host struggling Bolton tonight in the Premier League needing a win to keep pressure on Manchester United and Chelsea in the race for this yea'r title. After losing 3-0 at home to the latter many thought the Gunners' hopes of winning the league had already faded but they have worked their way back into the reckoning and could not have asked for a better opportunity, with their opponents second from bottom in the table having recently dismissed their manager, replacing him with former player Owen Coyle.

Manchester City host arch-rivals Manchester United in the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-final tonight, with new City boss Roberto Mancini bidding for his first silverware with the club. Former Inter Milan boss Mancini won his first three matches in charge but lost 2-0 at Everton on Saturday and will be eager to win over the City fans with a victory here.

High-flying Birmingham take on league champions Manchester United in this Saturday’s late kick-off. Since being taken over by new owners, Birmingham have been in tremendous form and have vaulted up the league table and currently lie in eighth place, only one point behind Liverpool.

Manchester United host Wigan Athletic tonight, hoping to make up ground on league leaders Chelsea, who are currently five points ahead of them. Fellow chasers Arsenal are also in action tonight, playing Portsmouth, and United will be keen not to slip up, and maintain their place as nearest rivals to Chelsea.

Tottenham travel to Old Trafford tonight in a repeat of last year's Carling Cup final. Manchester United won that match, after triumphing on penalties, but both teams are expected to rest key players for this game. Spurs won the competition in 2008, and are tonight bidding to reach the semi-finals for a record equalling twelfth time.

Last year's runners-up and 2008 winners Manchester United welcome CSKA Moscow to Old Trafford tonight in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League. The Premier League champions have been perfect in Europe so far, winning all three of their matches to top the group and winning four of their last five in all competitions. CSKA have not been as successful, winning only two of their last five and firing their manager, Juande Ramos, on the 26th Octber.

Manchester United welcome Blackburn today and will be hoping to get back on track after a disappointing 2-0 loss to Liverpool. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side won midweek in the Carling Cup, thanks to goals from Danny Welbeck and Michael Owen, and they will be hoping to inflict another heavy defeat on the struggling Blackburn side, after they were thrashed 5-0 by Chelsea last week.
