NFL Divisional Playoffs - Baltimore vs Indianapolis - Result
By Matt Knowles on 2010-01-17 12:38:37
Baltimore travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts tonight. The hosts are the Super Bowl favourites and looked unbeatable for the most of the season, before losing their last two games after resting key players. Baltimore had an inconsistent season and at 9-7 could easily have missed out on the playoffs, but their 33-14 win in the last round over the Patriots showed that on their day they can beat anyone and should give them confidence going into tonight`s game.
Indianapolis are favourites for the game on the money line at -250 (bet $250 to win $100 profit), leaving the Ravens as underdogs at +225 (bet $100 to win $225 profit). Betting on the money line so far has been fairly even, with 52% of money backing an upset.
The point spread for the game has been set at seven, making the Colts favourites at -7 and giving the Ravens a handicap of +7 points. Betting against the spread so far has been in favour of Indy, with 65% of action backing them to beat the spot tonight. Last time the teams met was in Baltimore last November and the Colts only just edged it, winning 17-15.
Both teams managed to perform better on the field this season than they did against the spread, with the Ravens covering at 8-7-1 despite winning at 9-7 and Indy going 10-5-1 against the spot while 14-2 on the field.
The Over/Under total for the game has been set at 44 points and betting so far has seen 72% of money backing the Over. However, the teams have leaned very slightly towards the Over, with fifteen Overs, sixteen Unders and one push in their combined twenty-six decisions.
The Colts have been made favourites for the Super Bowl this season at 3/1 but the Ravens are still given a chance for a surprise triumph, priced at 16/1.
