NFL Week Seventeen - Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys
By Matt Knowles on 2010-01-03 20:15:26
Philadelphia travel to Dallas to face the cowboys in week seventeen of the NFL season in a game that determines who will finish top of the NFC East. The Eagles currently lead the division but at 11-4 it is a slender lead, with the Cowboys close behind at 10-5. Both teams won last week, with the Eagles beating Denver 30-27 and Dallas shutting out Washington in a 17-0 win in the Capital.
The Eagles have been made favourites for the game on the money line at -162 (bet $162 to win $100 profit), leaving the Eagles as underdogs at +145 (bet $100 to win $145 profit). Betting on the money line so far has focused mainly on the visitors with 98% of money so far backing Philadelphia to produce an upset today.
The points spread for the game has been set at three points, making Dallas favourites at -3 points and giving the Eagles a handicap of +3 points. Betting against the spread has also been mainly in favour of Philadelphia, with 80% of money backing them to cover the spread. Last time the teams met was in week nine of the current season and the Eagles came away with a 20-16 win.
Both teams have performed better this season on the field than they have against the spread, with the Cowboys covering at only 8-7 despite winning at 10-5 and Philadelphia covering at 9-5 with a record of 11-4.
The Over/Under line for the game has been set at 47 points and betting so far has seen 53% of money backing the Under. This seems reasonable as they two teams combined have recorded fourteen Unders and sixteen Overs in their combined thirty decisions this season.
Both sides are in the hunt for the Super Bowl this season but the Eagles are seen as the more likely of the two at 9/1 to the Cowboys` 14/1.
