NFL Week Seventeen - Baltimore Ravens vs Oakland Raiders
By Matt Knowles on 2010-01-03 20:15:02
Baltimore travel to Oakland in week seventeen of the NFL season knowing that if they win they have secured a spot in the play-offs. However, with seven teams chasing two Wild Card spots in the AFC, they will also be aware that failure could be costly. They stand at 8-7, and will need to overcome the 5-10 Raiders, who have had a resurgence of late and have nothing to lose themselves.
The Ravens are favourites for the game on the money line at -550 (bet $550 to win $100 profit), leaving the Raiders as big underdogs at +450 (bet $100 to win $450 profit). Betting on the money line so far has seen the majority of action backing the hosts, with 78% of money behind Oakland.
The point spread for the game has been set at 10.5 points, making the Ravens favourites at -10.5 points and giving the Raiders a handicap of +10.5 points. Betting against the spread so far has been in favour of the Ravens, with 62% of money backing the visitors to beat the spot tonight. Last time the teams met Baltimore came out on top, beating Oakland 29-10 in week eight of last season.
Baltimore have performed slightly better against the spread than they have on the field, covering at 8-6-1 while winning at 8-7. Oakland have also been better at winning than covering, going 5-10 on the field but beating the spread seven times in their fifteen attempts.
The Over/Under for the game has been set at 39.5 points and betting so far has seen 63% of money backing the Over. However, the two teams combined have only recorded thirteen Overs in their combined thirty decisions.
The Ravens are yet to book their place in the play-offs but are still seen as contenders for this year`s Super Bowl, priced at 33/1.
