NFL Week Fourteen betting - San Diego Chargers vs Dallas Cowboys
By Matt Knowles on 2009-12-13 20:00:54
San Diego travel to Dallas tonight in week fourteen of the NFL season in a game that both teams will be desperate to win to help cement their places in the playoffs. The Chargers have won seven games in a row and last week`s 30-23 win over Cleveland saw them improve to 9-3. Dallas have also had a good season but lost 31-24 in New York last week and fell to 8-4, tied for first in the NFC East.
The Cowboys go into the game as favourites on the money line despite San Diego`s red hot form and are priced at -185 (bet $185 to win $100 profit), leaving the Chargers as underdogs at +170 (bet $100 to win $270 profit). Betting on the money line so far has been fairly one-sided with 88% of money backing the Chargers to continue their run and score an upset tonight.
The points spread for the game is set at 3.5 points, making the Cowboys favourites as -3.5 points and giving the Chargers a handicap of +3.5 points. Betting against the spread so far has also been mainly behind the visitors and 62% of money has backed San Diego to cover the spread. Last time the sides met, however, they would have come up just short as they were beaten by Dallas 28-24 in the 2005 season.
The Over/Under total for the game has been set at 48.5 points and betting so far has seen 60% of money backing the Over. Both teams have proved that they can score points and this may seen reasonable, but they can also defend and the teams are matched very evenly.
Both teams are firmly in the frame for this year`s Super Bowl and the Chargers are fourth favourites for glory this year at 10/1. Dallas are not rated as highly but at 33/1 they are given a good chance of competing this year.
