NFL Week Twelve betting - Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills
By Matt Knowles on 2009-11-29 16:55:44
Miami travel to Buffalo in week twelve of the NFL season looking to establish some consistency and extend their winning streak past two games for the first time this season after beating Carolina 24-17 last week. Buffalo will be greatful to return home after losing their last two games on the road, being thrashed 41-17 by Tennessee and losing 18-15 last week to Jacksonville to fall to 3-7.
Miami are favourites for the game on the money line at -175 (bet $175 to win $100 profit), leaving Buffalo as home underdogs at +165 (bet $10 to win $165 profit). Betting on the money line so far has been mainly behind the favourites with 77% of money backing the Dolphins to hand the Bills a third straight defeat.
The point spread has been set at three points, making the Dolphins favourites at -3 points and giving the Bills a handicap of +3 points. Betting against the spread has seen Miami backed heavily with 97% of action behind the visiting Dolphins. Last time the teams met was in week four of the current season and Miami crushed Buffalo 38-10.
Buffalo have been better so far this season at covering the spread than they have at winning games, covering at 5-5 despite winning at only 3-7. Miami have also covered at 5-5, the same as their on-field record.
The Over/Under for the game has been set at 40 points and so far 70% of betting has been in favour of the Over. This is difficult to explain, however, as the two teams have recorded a combined ten Overs and ten Unders in their twenty decisions so far.
Neither team is given a good chance of winning the Super Bowl but the Dolphins are seen as the more likely at 80/1 to Buffalo`s 2000/1.
