NFL Thursday Night football betting - Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions

Thanksgiving sees Green Bay travel to struggling Detroit in week twelve of the NFL season looking to extend their two game winning streak and further their chances of reaching the play-offs. The Packers are 6-4 after an inconsistent season and last week just managed to beat the 49ers 30-24 at home. Detroit have had a dreadful year and are 2-8 but will hope that their win last week over the Browns will give them enough momentum to add another win to their poor record.
Green Bay are heavy favourites for the game on the money line at -550 (bet $550 to win $100 profit), leaving Detroit as home underdogs at +479 (bet $100 to win $479 profit). Betting on the money line so far has seen 67% of money behind the visitors, backing them to pile more misery on the hapless Lions.
The point spread has been set at eleven points for the game, making Green Bay favourites at -11 and giving Detroit a large handicap of +11 points. Betting so far has been largely in favour of the favourites and 90% of action against the spread has backed the Packers. Last time the teams met was in week six of the current season and the Packers did indeed win comfortably, crushing Detroit 26-0.
The Packers have performed slightly better on the field so far this season than they have against the spread, winning at 6-4 but covering at only 5-4-1. Detroit have improved on their on-field by the same margin, covering at 2-7-1 to their on-field 2-8.
The Over/Under is set at 47.5 points for the game and betting so far has seen 77% of money backing the Over. This seems reasonable, as both teams have leaned towards the Over so far at 6-4.
Green Bay are not among the favourites for the Super Bowl this year but are given an outside chance of mounting a challenge at 40/1. Detroit are not and are 2000/1 for glory this season.
