NFL Week Eleven betting - Miami Dolphins at Carolina Panthers - Result
By Matt Knowles on 2009-11-20 12:15:46
Miami travel to Carolina in week eleven of the NFL season and both teams will be looking to improve their losing 4-5 records to even at 5-5 with a win tonight. Carolina and Miami have matched each other for results so far, winning and losing together, but something has to give and neither team can afford to fall to 4-6 if they hope to reach the play-offs. Last week the Panthers beat Atlanta 28-19 at home while Miami won 25-23 as they hosted the Bucs.
Carolina are favourites for the game on the money line at -175 (bet $175 to win $100 profit), leaving Miami as underdogs at +165 (bet $100 to win $165 profit) and betting so far has been fairly even with 52% backing the visitors to upset the Panthers tonight.
The point spread has been set at 3.5 points for the game, making Carolina favourites at -3.5 points and giving Miami a handicap of +3.5 points. Betting against the spread so far has seen 85% of money behind Caroline, backing the favourites to cover the spread. Miami have won all three meetings between the two teams last time triumphing 27-24 in week three of the 2005 season.
As well as winning at the same rate the teams have covered the spread at the same rate, both going 4-5 against the spot after failing to cover in one win but covering in one loss each. Carolina have now covered three weeks in a row while Miami failed to do so in their win last week over Tampa Bay.
The Over/Under for the game is set at 42.5 points and betting so far has seen 59% of money backing the Over. This seems reasonable as the teams combined have recorded eleven Overs and seven Unders in their eighteen decisions so far.
The two sides are seen as equally unlikely to win the Super Bowl at 150/1.
Miami 24-17 Carolina
