NFL Week Nine betting - Houston Texans vs Indianapolis Colts

Week nine of the NFL season throws up a clash between two AFC South rivals as Houston travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts. Both teams have started the season well, but it is the Colts who have really burst out of the starting blocks, winning all of their games to top the division at 7-0 and last week overcoming a resilient 49ers side to win 18-14. Houston are 5-3, comfortably beating Buffalo last week 31-10.
Indianapolis are solid favourites for the game at -400 (bet $400 to win $100 profit), leaving the Texans as underdogs at +350 (bet $100 to win $350 profit). Betting so far has mostly backed the visitors, with 72% of money in favour of a big upset.
The point spread for the game is set at nine points, making the Colts favourites at -9 points nad the Texans underdogs with a +9 handicap. Betting against the point spread has slightly favoured the hosts, with 54% of action so far betting on them to cover. Last time the sides met the Colts won by only six, but have totally dominated the all-time series between the two teams, winning thirteen of the fourteen matches.
Both teams have performed slightly better on the field than they have against the spread, with the Colts covering at 2-5 while winning at 7-0. Houston have been only slightly better n the field, covering at 4-3-1 while winning at 5-3. It is worth noting that despite Indianapolis winning the all-time series 13-1, Houston have covered against the Colts at an impressive 7-7.
The Over/Under is set at 48 points for today`s game, with 86% of money so far backing the Over. This is hard to explain as both teams have leaned towards the Under, wwith the Colts finishing Under in four of seven games and the Texans in five of seven games.
The Colts are second favourites to win the Super Bowl this year after their superb early showing, priced at 11/2. The Texans not given nearly as much chance, coming in at 40/1. A win tonight, however, would change all that.
