NFL Week Nine betting - Miami Dolphins vs New England Patriots

The Dolphins travel from sunny Miami to frosty Massachusetts to face NFC East Rivals New England in week nine of the NFL season. The Dolphins have had a mixed start to the season and now sit at 3-4 after beating the New York Jets, another rival, 30-25 last week. The Patriots are 5-2 and last week were on a bye after beating Tampa Bay 35-7 at London`s famous Wembley Stadium in week seven.
New England are strong favourites for the game on the money line at -588 (bet $588 to win $100 profit), leaving the Dolphins as big underdogs at +470 (bet $100 to win $470 profit). Betting on the money line has so far favoured the visitors, with 66% of money so far backing an upset.
The point spread has been set at a large 10.5 points, making the Patriots favourites at -10.5 points and the Dolphins with a large handicap of +10.5 points, more than a touchdown and a field goal. Betting so far against the spread has seen 54% of action backing the Dolphins to cover such a big spread. Last time the sides met the Patriots won by more than that, however, scoring 21 points without reply in the fourth quarter as they beat Miami 48-28 in week twelve of last season.
So far the Dolphins have performed as well against the spread as they have on the field, covering at 3-4, while the Patriots have been better at winning games than winning money for their backers, covering at 3-4 to their on-field 5-2. Last season the Patriots at home was a similar story, winning at 5-3 but covering at 3-5.
The Over/Under is set at 47 points, and so far 93% of money has been placed on the Over. It is easy to see why, as Miami have finished Over in five of their seven decisions this year, and New England in four of the seven.
The Patriots are third favourites to win this year`s Super Bowl at 13/2, while the Dolphins are not seen as nearly as strong, priced at 80/1.
