NFL Week Seven betting preview - New York Jets vs Oakland Raiders
By Matt Knowles on 2009-10-25 19:15:02
The New York Jets travel to Oakland in week seven of the NFL season trying to turn their fortunes around after losing their last three games after a perfect start to fall to 3-3, their latest defeat coming to Buffalo 16-13. Oakland shocked Philadelphia last weekend winning 13-9, but are still only 2-4 and will hope to improve on that against the struggling Jets tonight.
New York are favourites for the game at -270 (bet $270 to win $100 profit), making Oakland underdogs at +230 (bet $100 to win $230 profit). So far on the money line, 65% of betting has been on the favoured visitors despite their recent losing habit.
The point spread is set at 6 points tonight, with the Jets favourites at -6 points and Oakland given a +6 handicap. So far in betting on the point spread, 84% of action has been on the Jets. Last time time sides met was on October 19th last year when the Raiders came away with a 19-16 overtime win.
The Over/Under total for the game is set at 35 points with 65% of betting going on the Over. This, however, may be misguided as the Raiders have four Unders in their six games this season and the Jets have finished Under in five of their six.
New York are given an outside chance of winning the Super Bowl this year at 40/1, but the Raiders are not seen as realistic contenders this year, priced at 1000/1.
