Bettors had the upper hand over bookmakers in the first week of NFL pre-season action.
Favorites went 9-6-1 against-the-spread while on the money line they went 12-4, making it an expensive week for the sportsbooks.
Live Odds and Lines talked to various linesmakers, all of whom said they had lost money on the first week of NFL action but that it was a relief that the results had occurred during pre-season.
"We definitely got hit hard and a lot of parlays came in," said one leading sportsbook linesmaker. "But it would have been at least ten times worse during the regular season and frankly we hope we`re getting our bad luck out of the way early.
Linesmakers took some evasive action following the first week`s action, cutting the Super Bowl odds of the San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs.
