NFL Monday Night Football: San Diego Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs Point Spread and Betting Preview

KANSAS CITY, MO - Monday night's prime time action sees AFC West divisional action between the Chargers (4-2) and the Chiefs (3-3) in a battle for first place in the division at the Arrowhead stadium in Kansas City. Kansas City are the reigning division champs but seemed to have blown any chance of defending that title having opened the season 0-3, tonight though they have the opportunity to lead the division going into the second half of the season having won three games on the bounce. 

The Chiefs last loss was against the Chargers back in week three and they will be hoping to they can use this good run of form they are on to return the favor to the Chargers back in Missouri.

The Chiefs eighth rated rush offence will be keen to exploit the Chargers 28th ranked rush defence and the running game is likely to shape much of the Chiefs offensive drives given the struggles they have been having moving the ball through the air, averaging a disappointing 173.7 passing yards a game.

On the money line, the Chargers are best priced at 13/20 with Boyle Sports and the Chiefs are quoted at top odds of 7/5 with Paddy Power.The Chargers would seem to represent a significant step up in competition in Kansas City's quest for its first four-game win streak since Dec. 5-25, 2004. The Chiefs' first two victims during the run, Minnesota and Indianapolis, are a combined 1-13 heading into this week's play, while the Raiders were playing for the first time without usual trigger-man Jason Campbell under center.

San Diego's 4-2 mark has come against opponents with dubious credentials as well, with Kansas City the only team the Bolts have beaten that's presently without a losing mark. Penalties and turnovers have also plagued the Chargers throughout the course of the season, and their overall play hasn't usually been as impressive as their record and first-place standing indicates.
