Barclays Premier League: Manchester United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Odds and Betting Preview
By Gus Morse on 2010-11-06 08:50:34
MANCHESTER, UK - Manchester United host Wolverhampton Wanderers today in the Barclays Premier League at Old Trafford. United beat Wolves two weeks ago in the Carling Cup and are favourites to win today, priced at 1/4 (bet £4 to make £1 profit) on Betfair. A draw is best priced at 11/2 with Ladbrokes and a win for Wolves can be backed at best odds of 16/1 with Stan James.
In the total goals market, over 2.5 goals is priced at 7/10 on Betfair and under 2.5 goals is best priced at 11/8 with Blue Square.
Manchester United may be five points behind leaders Chelsea, but they are unbeaten in their last 15 Premier League games and, at Old Trafford, they have won 15 and drawn one of their last 17 League matches.
Indeed, they have yet to lose this season in all competitions (17) and their 10 League games without defeat is a club record in the Premier League, their best unbeaten start since 1991 and best since 1985, when they were unbeaten in their opening 15 League games.
By contrast, Wolves are one of only four teams yet to win away from home this season, last winning on their travels at West Ham in March.
Javier Hernandez is the bookies favourite to score the opener today, priced at 7/2 with Coral. In the same market, Berbatov is best priced at 4/1 with Paddy Power, Macheda is priced at 5/1 with Bet365, Steven Fletcher is quoted at best odds of 14/1 with Coral and Park Ji-Sung is a 10/1 chance with Sky Bet to get the first goal today.
In the correct score market, a 2-0 win to United is best priced at 11/2 with Betfred, a 1-0 win for the Red Devils is priced at 7/1 with Victor Chandler and 3-0 win for Fergie`s men is priced at 7/1 with Boylesports. A 1-1 draw is priced at 13/1 on Betfair and a 1-0 victory for Wolves is priced at 33/1 with Paddy Power.
These teams have already met this season, in the Carling Cup last week, when United won 3-2 thanks to a late goal from Javier Hernandez. But in their last five League visits, Wolves have lost four, drawn one, conceded 12 goals and scored none.
Wolves also arrive having failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 13 games this season, the longest sequence of any team in the Premier League.
