ACCRINGTON: League Two Accrington will hope to cause an upset tonight against a Newcastle side likely to look very different to the one that crushed Aston Villa 6-0 at St James` Park on Sunday. Newcastle`s priority this season is certainly to remain in the Premier League and they will rest key men. However, they are still favourites for tonight`s game, at 4/7 (bet £70 to win £40 profit) with Victor Chandler, leaving the hosts as underdogs at 13/2 with Totesport. The draw is 10/3 with Extrabet and William Hill.
Newcastle will want to win by another large margin tonight and Sky Bet offer 8/11 that the match sees as least 2.5 goals, with 10Bet going 4/3 on a lower total. Given that Accrington scored three in their last home match, we could see quite few tonight, however, and over 3.5 is available at 13/8 with Betfred and Victor Chandler.
1-0 and 2-0 to Newcastle are the favourite scores for the game, with both available at 15/2 with William Hill. The same firm offer 8/1 on a 1-1 draw, while the game is 16/1 with Sportingbet to finish goalless. A 1-0 home win is 20/1 with Paddy Power, with 2-0 as long as 50/1 with Blue Square and 888 Sport.
Andy Carroll scored a hat-trick in the win over Villa and the big striker is 4/1 with Bet 365 and Victor Chandler to open the scoring tonight, although it seems likely he will be rested. Shola Ameobi and Peter Lovenkrands may start instead, with both available at 6/1 with Victor Chandler. Rory Boulding is seen as the home side`s biggest threat, at 11/1 with Ladbrokes.
Newcastle are 5/4 with Bet 365 to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and 7/2 with Paddy Power and Ladbrokes to win the match after drawing at the break. Victor Chandler offer 13/2 that both halves are drawn, while draw/Accrington is 14/1 with Coral and Ladbrokes.
Chelsea are favourites to lift the Carling Cup this season, at 6/1 with Coral and Sky Bet. Newcastle are given an outside chance of a decent run, priced at 50/1 with Paddy Power, Stan James and Bodog.
