Premier League football betting - Birmingham City vs Everton
By Matt Knowles on 2010-03-13 14:03:51
Birmingham City host Everton today in the Premier League looking to show that their high standing in the table is justified. City have surprised some this season and are currently eighth in the league in their first season, two points and one place ahead of their opponents today. Everton will be looking to improve on their away form, having already beaten the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United at Goodison Park this season.
The visitors are favourites for the game at 6/4 (bet £40 to win £60 profit), leaving City as home underdogs at 2/1. Both sides have been in fairly good form recently, with three wins in their last five games, and both also won last time out, with Birmingham winning 2-1 at Portsmouth as Everton crushed Hull City 5-1. The draw is available at 12/5 but neither side has drawn in their last five.
The bookmakers seem to think the teams are very evenly matched and have made a 1-1 draw the most likely score for the game at 6/1, followed by a 1-0 win for Everton at 7/1, with the same scoreline in Birmingham`s favour available at 8/1 with Canbet. A 0-0 draw is priced at 17/2 and a more convincing 2-0 win is 11/1 for Everton and 14/1 for Birmingham.
French striker Louis Saha has been made favourite to open the scoring tonight at 6/1 with Stan James, followed by Yakubu at 7/1 with Coral, with Tim Cahill at 8/1 and Landon Donovan at 17/2. For Birmingham, Cameron Jerome is most likely at 15/2, followed by Cristian Benitez at 8/1 and Kevin Phillips at 9/1 with Bet365.
Everton are 4/1 with Victor Chandler to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and 5/1 to win the match after drawing at half-time. The bookmakers offer 4/1 that both halves end in a draw and Birmingham are 9/2 to be winning at both the interval and the final whistle. Draw/Birmingham is available at 6/1 with William Hill.
Neither side can win the league but nor are they in danger of relegation. Both could finish in the top six, however, and City Everton are given the better chance, at 4/1, with Birmingham at 11/2.
