English Premiership betting preview - Tottenham vs Stoke
By Harry Maude on 2009-10-24 11:49:34
Premier League high flyers Tottenham host Stoke City at White Hart Lane today, hoping to continue their excellent league form. The North London side currently lie in third place, behind Manchester United and Chelsea, and a win would see them draw level with United who play tomorrow.
Spurs are favourites for the match at ½ (bet $20 to make $10 profit), whilst Stoke are at 15/2. The draw is at 10/3.
Jermain Defoe, who has been prolific for Spurs so far this season, is suspended following his red card for a stamp on Portsmouth’s Aaron Mokoena. Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane are joint favourites to open the scoring at 9/2, followed by Roman Pavlyuchenko at 6/1. Aaron Lennon is next at 10/1. Stoke’s best hopes are Ricardo Fuller and James Beattie who are both at 10/1.
Harry Redknapp’s side are 6/5 to be winning at half time and full time, and 7/2 be drawing at half time and winning at full time. Draw / draw is priced at 13/2 and Stoke / Stoke is at 16/1.
The bookmakers have made a 2-0 or a 1-0 Spurs win the favourite results at 6/1, followed by a 2-0 home win at 15/2. A 1-1 draw and a 3-0 Spurs win are both at 9/1.
Spurs are 5/1 to break into the top four this season, and Stoke are 1/33 to stay up.
