Barclays Premier League: Birmingham City vs Manchester United Final Score and Betting Result

BIRMINGHAM, UK - Manchester United could only manage a 1-1 draw against struggling Birmingham yesterday evening, but it was enough to see them dislodge local rivals Manchester City from the top of the table (on goal difference) just in time for New Year. A draw was best priced at 10/3 (bet £3 to make £10 profit) and was secured when Lee Bowyer scored a controversial 90th minute equaliser to salvage a point for the Blues.
Dimitar Berbatov continued his fine vein of form when he gave United the lead just before the hour mark. He released Darron Gibson with a clever flick and then took the return pass to drive a shot inside the post. Berbatov was priced at 7/5 to score at anytime and he is priced at 9/4 with William Hill and Blue Square to win the Golden Boot.
Birmingham lifted themselves out of the bottom three with the draw but United will feel aggrieved at the manner of the leveller. A Blues cross appeared to hit Nikola Zigic's arm and Bowyer slid the ball home despite appearing to be offside. Birmingham are priced at 1/4 with Coral to stay up this season.
In addition to what looked like clear handball and offside infringements, the goal might also have been ruled out for a foul by Zigic on Rio Ferdinand as he went up to meet a ball put in by Roger Johnson.
Nonetheless, United have again dropped points on their top-flight travels and have now managed only one win in eight games on the road this season. Manchester United are still favourites for the title, priced at 5/4 on Betfair, and they are currently top of the table with games in hand against all their closest rivals.
