In the Barcleys Premier League this weekend Everton will host Wigan, in what should be a tight affair, as both sides have had an impressive start to the season. Going into the the match, bookmakers favour Everton who can be backed at best odds of 4/7 with Ladbrokes and Paddy Power whilst a draw is at a standout 14/5 with Stan James. An away win can be backed at a top priced 7/1 shot with Victor Chandler.
Last month, Everton saw the departure of their dead ball specialist Mikel Arteta to Arsenal which may have come as a blow to David Moyes's side. However, defender Leighton Baines seems to have stepped up and has become a key asset for Everton, he now takes their free kicks, corners and penalties. After Wigan's defeat on Tuesday in the Carling Cup they will be eager to try and pick up some points from Saturday's fixture. With key players, such as Franco Di Santo fully fit they should be in for a chance.
French striker, Louis Saha will head the first goalscorer market at odds of 5/1 with Coral and Skybet, however he is closely followed by team-mate Tim Cahill. The attacking midfield, can be back at best odds of 11/2 with Skybet whilst Everton's new penalty taker, Leighton Baines can be backed at a standout 14/1 with Ladbrokes and Paddy Power. Wigan's biggest threat will come from Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega, who is on offer at 10/1 with Bet 365 whilst Franco Di Santo can be backed at a top priced 12/1 shot with Bet 365.
A 1-0 win for Everton is the favoured scoreline, at best odds of 6/1 with Ladbrokes and totesport. While a 2-1 home win is the next most likely outcome and can be backed at 6/1 with William hill. Skybet are offering a standout 12/1 shot for a 3-1 home victory. The scoreline which has occurred most frequently between these two sides, in the past ten match's, is 2-1 to Everton which can be backed at 15/2 with Bet 365. While 16/1 can be had at Bet 365 for a 1-0 away win, for those punters who like the underdog.
Everton are 6/4 with Boylesports to lead at both half-time and full-time and 7/2 with Ladbrokes to take the points after being held back at the break.Victor Chandler and totesport are top price on both halves finishing level, at 11/2, while Wigan to lead at both half-time and full-time is a long priced 14/1 with 888 Sport. Wigan to draw after winning at the break can be backed at 20/1 with Skybet.
Goals may appear inevitable in an open game like this, Ladbrokes are offering evens for there to be over 2.5 goals, whilst under the same 2.5 margin can be backed at 10/11 with 888 Sport. Any punters predicting an open contest can get a top priced 11/4 shot with Skybet for over 3.5 goals.
