Premier League: Wigan v Bolton Odds and Betting Preview
By Michael Peet on 2011-10-14 12:13:34
WIGAN, UK - Two sides who already look locked in the relegation scramble meet in a six-pointer at the DW Stadium. Wigan are the unconvincing favourites to win the game at 7/5 with William Hill, while Bolton can be backed at a top price 9/4 with Skybet. Victor Chandler are going 12/5 that the match ends a draw.Â
After an encouraging start to the season, Wigan have been brought right back down to earth of late, losing four on the trot. The visit of rock-bottom Bolton, therefore, could probably not come at a better time, and a win could see the hosts climb to as high as ninth in the league table.
Bolton have suffered an even more crushing collapse, following a fine 4-0 away win at QPR on the opening day of the season with six emphatic defeats in a row. They have shipped an average of three goals in their away games so far this season, and their fall to the bottom of the table has seen them trimmed to 11/4 at Victor Chandler to be relegated.
But the bookies still fancy a close game, with1-1 the 6/1 favourite scoreline at William Hill. Other promising shouts are 2-0 to the Latics, 11/1 with Bet365, or 3-1, 18/1 at Ladbrokes. Misfiring Bolton are an 8/1 chance with Boyle Sports to grab a 1-0 victory and 12/1 with Unibet to win 2-1. Stan James are standout 10/1 that the game ends goalless.
Most firms, including Skybet and Stan James, are quoting even money on the match producing more than 2.5 goals, and Skybet are also top price on over 3.5 at 5/2. Under 1/5 is an 11/4 chance at Bet365.
Double result bettors can back Wigan/Wigan at 11/4 with William Hill, although draw/Wigan looks better value at 9/2 with Coral given Wigan's unconvincing scoring record. Boyle Sports are 5/1 on Bolton/Bolton, which will surely only attract the most optimistic of punters.
Both teams have struggled for goals this season, although the improvement in Franco di Santo's form will have given encouragement to Latics fans. He's a 7/1 chance to open the scoring, narrowly behind Hugo Rodallega, who is 13/2 with the same firm to find the net first on his return from injury. Bolton's Ivan Klasnic, with three goals to his name so far this term, is 15/2 at Sportingbet to be the man that break's the deadlock.
The match kicks off at 1500 BST.
