Premier League: Liverpool v Norwich Odds and Betting Preview
By Jack Howard on 2011-10-21 09:04:30
LIVERPOOL, UK – Liverpool host Norwich in their Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday. Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League table, but sixth placed Tottenham have a game in hand so Kenny Dalglish's side cannot afford to drop points in their upcoming fixture. Norwich may prove tough and determined opposition, but The Reds will expect to secure a victory nonetheless.
Liverpool start the match as firm favourites to win, and can be backed to do so at best odds of 1/3 (bet £3 to make £1 profit) with William Hill. Norwich, on the other hand, are on offer at 11/1 with Victor Chandler, whilst the draw is available at 9/2 with Bet365.
Liverpool drew 1-1 in their last Premier League fixture against reigning champions Manchester United. Whilst supporters will be disappointed to have thrown away their lead in the second half the result cannot go down as a failure. Kenny Dalglish's team face a much softer challenge against Norwich, but will be determined not to let complacency get the better of them. Their task will be made slightly more difficult due to the absence of Lucas Leiva, however, who misses the game due to suspension.
Norwich have secured eleven points from the first eight games of the season, not a bad start at all for a side who were playing Championship football last season. Paul Lambert's side have won three of their last four matches, recording the only loss against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Norwich fans will hope that their team can carry this good form into their match at Anfield on Saturday.
In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is 8/13 with Boylesports, whilst under 2.5 goals can be backed at 13/10 with Victor Chandler. For those punters anticipating a bore draw, however, under 0.5 goals is on offer at best odds of 14/1 with Stan James.
Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez has been on excellent form in a Liverpool shirt so far this season, scoring five goals in all competitions already. Suarez is currently 10/3 favourite with Coral to open the scoring on Saturday. Suarez's strike partner Andy Carroll is also deemed likely to score first at 9/2 with Ladbrokes, whilst Norwich captain Grant Holt is available at 11/1 with William Hill to break the deadlock.
Liverpool are quoted at best odds of 5/6 with Coral to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Liverpool is on offer at 7/2 with Betinternet. Draw/Norwich is available at a much longer 28/1 with Boylesports, whilst Liverpool/Norwich can be backed at odds as long as 100/1 with Paddy Power.
Kick off is at 17.30 BST
