Premier League: Bolton Wanderers v Sunderland Odds and Betting Preview
By Jack Howard on 2011-10-21 11:01:40
BOLTON, UK – Bolton Wanderers host Sunderland on Saturday in a clash between two teams desperate for points in the Premier League. Bolton won their last fixture 3-1 against Wigan, a result that lifted them off the very bottom of the table. Their upcoming match against Sunderland is another important chance to secure points, and Owen Coyle will hope that his side can rise to the challenge.
Bolton will be playing with the advantage of a home crowd, and start the match as 5/4 (bet £4 to make £5 profit) favourites with Victor Chandler. Sunderland, on the other hand, can be backed at a slightly longer 5/2 with Bet365, whilst the draw is on offer at 12/5 with Stan James.
Bolton are on an utterly miserable run of form by any standards, irrespective of their recent victory, having lost 11 of their last 13 games in the Premier League. Owen Coyle's team have the worst goal difference in the league of -10, but will hope that their win against Wigan indicates a change in their fortunes. If they secure a victory against Sunderland on Saturday then Bolton will move out of the relegation zone, much to the relief of their supporters.
Sunderland are currently level on points with Bolton, but ahead of them by one place due to their superior goal difference. Steve Bruce is thought to be the most likely Premier League manager to be next sacked from his job at evens with Skybet, and must therefore do everything in his power to turn things around for The Black Cats. It is vital for both sides to secure points from fixtures like these, before points dry up against the bigger clubs. The stage is set for an incredibly intense encounter.
In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is 19/20 with Victor Chandler, whilst under 2.5 goals is on offer at an identical 19/20 with Bet365. Those punters who think that the match will end in a dull goalless draw, however, can back under 0.5 goals at longer odds of 10/1 with William Hill.
Ivan Klasnic is Bolton's top scorer with three goals so far this season, and is currently on offer to score first in Saturday's game at 6/1 with Paddy Power. Captain Kevin Davies is also deemed likely to open the scoring at 13/2 with Skybet and Stan James, whilst Sunderland's Nicklas Bendtner can be backed to break the deadlock at slightly longer odds of 7/1 with Ladbrokes.
Bolton are quoted at best odds of 11/4 with Ladbrokes to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Bolton is on offer at 9/2 with Coral. Draw/Sunderland is available at 7/1 with Coral, whilst those punters who think that Sunderland will win the match after trailing at half time can back Bolton/Sunderland at odds as long as 33/1 with Skybet.
