Premier League: West Brom v Liverpool Odds and Betting Preview
By Jack Howard on 2011-10-28 08:00:00
WEST BROMWICH, UK – Liverpool travel to The Hawthorns on Saturday to play West Brom in the Premier League. Liverpool are currently sixth in the league table, having gained fifteen points from their first nine matches. Kenny Dalglish's side finished sixth at the end of last season, but will be intent upon qualifying for Champions League football once again with a top four finish this campaign. If they are to do so, however, Liverpool must beat sides like West Brom away from home. Liverpool start the match as favourites to secure the three points that they desperately desire, and can be backed to do so at best odds of 11/10 (bet £10 to make £11 profit) with Coral. West Brom, on the other hand, are available at 10/3 with Stan James, whilst the draw is on offer at 5/2 with Coral.
Liverpool go into the fixture off the back of a 2-1 victory against Stoke in the Carling cup, and will doubtless look to work this momentum to their advantage. Dalglish will have been disappointed with Liverpool's 1-1 draw at home against Norwich in their last Premiership game, a result which relieved some of the pressure that Liverpool were putting on Tottenham and Newcastle, and will hope that they can put the result firmly behind them with a win on Saturday. West Brom have won their last two league matches, moving five points clear of the relegation zone. Roy Hodgson's side look to be an increasingly efficient outfit, and may well cause Liverpool problems if they can reproduce such form in their upcoming match.
In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is 21/20 with Bet365, whilst under 2.5 goals is on offer at 5/6 with Stan James. For those punters who think that the game will be a goalless stalemate, however, under 0.5 goals can be backed at longer odds of 10/1 with Stan James.
Luis Surez has been extremely dangerous in front of goal for Liverpool so far this season, scoring seven goals in all competitions. Unsurprisingly Suarez is favourite with the bookmakers to be the first name on the score sheet on Saturday, and can be backed at best odds of 9/2 with Coral. Suarez's team mate Andy Carroll is also deemed likely to open the scoring at 13/2 with Paddy Power, whist West Brom's Peter Odemwingie is available to break the deadlock at 15/2 with Blue Square.
Liverpool are quoted at best odds of 11/5 with Betinternet to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Liverpool is on offer at 9/2 with William Hill. Draw/West Brom is available at a longer 8/1 with Boylesports, whilst those punters who think that West Brom will fight back to win the match after trailing at half time can back Liverpool/West Brom at odds as long as 40/1 with Skybet.
Kick off is at 17.30 BST
