Premier League: Arsenal v West Bromwich Albion Odds and Betting Preview
By Michael Peet on 2011-11-04 13:09:49
LONDON, UK - Arsenal take on West Bromwich Albion in Saturday afternoon's meeting at The Emirates stadium. The in-form hosts are comfortable 4/9 favourites at William Hill to take three points, while West Brom are 8/1 outsiders to grab a famous win. Boyle Sports are going 7/2 that the match ends a draw.
After their well-documented nightmare start to the Premier League season, Arsenal have begun to find some form and head in this fixture on the back of three consecutive league wins. The latest of these was last weekend's dramatic 5-3 triumph at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea: a game, perhaps, which epitomised all the strengths and weaknesses of this Gunners side. Defensively Arsenal remain less than convincing, but their attack, led by the unstoppable Robin van Persie, surely ranks currently as one of the most dangerous in the division.
Like Arsenal, Roy Hodgson's West Brom endured a tough start to their campaign, losing four of their first five fixtures. They have improved of late, however, and have now lost just one of their last five (against Liverpool last Saturday) - in response, Boyle Sports have pushed them out to 10/1 to be relegated.
The correct score prices would suggest a comfortable home win for Arsenal, with 1-0 a standout 8/1 bet with Skybet and 2-0 available at 7/1 with William Hill. Blue Square are going 15/2 on the Gunners notching a 2-1 victory and a marginally better 8/1 on the game ending 1-1. The Baggies, whose last Premier League away game was a 2-1 win at Aston Villa, can be backed to win here by the same scoreline at 28/1 with Boyle Sports.
Arsenal are even money at Coral and several other firms to be leading at the both half-time and full-time, and Paddy Power are quoting 10/3 on the draw/Arsenal combination. Further double result prices include 18/1 on West Brom/West Brom at Boyle Sports and an appetising 28/1 on West Brom/Arsenal.
In the over/under market Stan James are 11/8 that the game sees under 2.5 goals and 7/2 on under 2.5. William Hill, meanwhile, are top price for over 3.5 at 13/8.
The sight of Robin van Persie's name on recent Arsenal score sheets is probably becoming a sickening one for bookmakers up and down the country, and this week the Gunner's captain finds himself cut to a meagre 8/13 with Ladbrokes and William Hill to score in the match. He's 10/3 with Bet365 to open the scoring, while Gervinho's chances of breaking the deadlock are rated 11/2 at Ladbrokes. Peter Odemwingie is the visitors' best chance and is on offer at a standout 12/1 with Unibet.
The match starts at 1500 GMT.
