NEWCASTLE, UK – High-Flying Newcastle will be looking to continue their impressive start to the season this Saturday as they take on struggling Everton at St James’ Park. The Geordies are 13/10 with Paddy Power to take all three points and move to second in the table. Everton are 5/2 at Victor Chandler to bring an end to Newcastle's unbeaten record and record a much-needed three points. William Hill are 23/10 on the draw.
Newcastle head into this Saturday's match sitting third in the League table after a brilliant start to the new campaign which has seen the side pick up 22 points after the first ten fixtures. Alan Pardew's side's success has been largely based around the league's best performing defense which has conceded a miserly seven goals so far this season. The Geordies look to have pulled off some of the best transfer dealings of the summer with the acquisitions of Gabriel Obertan, Yohan Cabaye and Demba Ba, who have been integral to the turnaround in the side's fortunes. Expectations are suddenly sky-high around St James' Park as optimistic Toon fans dream of a European finish, just over a season after Chris Hughton led the side back to England's top division.
Everton meanwhile are have endured a disappointing start to the season and currently sit a lowly 16th in the League standings after losing five of their last six matches. David Moyes' side have however had a brutal fixture list, with each of those losing coming against one of the League's current top six, and have actually been performing well of late despite the results. The Toffees will be hoping to get back on track with victory this Saturday and begin a surge up the table.
Newcastle can be backed at 6/1 with Ladbrokes to grab a 1-0 victory whilst 2-0 to the Magpies is an 11/1 shot with Paddy Power. Everton are 17/2 with Bet365 to come away with a one nil victory with 2-1 to the visitors an 11/1 chance at Betfred. Stan James offer an industry-leading 10/1 on a goalless draw.
Three of Newcastle’s last four home league matches have contained at least three goals and punters expecting another high scoring affair can back over 2.5 goals to be scored at 4/5 with Ladbrokes or four or more at 13/5 with William Hill. Bet365 offer 21/20 on less than three goals being scored whilst less than two goals in the match is a 5/2 chance with Stan James.
Senegalese striker Demba Ba, who has been in lethal form this season with eight goals and an assist in nine league matches, is the 11/2 favourite in the first goalscorer market with Paddy Power. Irish international Leon Best is a 13/2 chance to grab the opener with Bet365 whilst talented French playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa is a 9/1 shot with SkyBet. Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha is Everton’s top chance to break the deadlock at 13/2 with William Hill.
The Match Kicks off at 1245 GMT with live coverage on Sky Sports 2.
