Premier League: Wolves vs Sunderland Odds and Betting Preview
By Matt Knowles on 2011-12-03 17:00:01
WOLVERHAMPTON, UK: Sunderland’s visit to Wolves is their first outing since the midweek sacking of Steve Bruce and could prove a good chance to turn around the poor form that brought about this season’s first managerial casualty. Wolves are favourites for the game at 6/4 with Victor Chandler, who are also top price on the visitors, offering 21/10. The draw is available at 23/10 with Coral.
Martin O’Neill looks likely to take the helm at Sunderland and the former Villa boss has some challenge on his hands, with his side sixteenth in the league with a miserable return of 11 points from 13 matches. If there was a team the Black Cats would like to face right now, though, it would be Wolves, who have lost eight of their last ten league games and lie one place below today’s visitors in the table.
A 1-1 draw is the favourite score for this meeting between two win-shy teams, at 6/1 with William Hill, ahead of a 1-0 home win at 7/1 with the same firm. The same score in Sunderland’s favour is available at 17/2 with Bet 365, while Ladbrokes are top price on both a 0-0 draw and a 2-0 win for Wolves, at 10/1 and 12/1 respectively.
Ladbrokes also show the way in the first goalscorer market, going top price on every selection. Nicholas Bendtner is favourite to break the deadlock for Sunderland at 7/1, ahead of Wolves strikers Kevin Doyle, Steven Fletch and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, all at 8/1. Sebastian Larsson is Sunderland’s top scorer this season and the Swedish midfielder is available at 14/1 to extend his tally and put the visitors in front on Sunday.
Wolves are 3/1 win Boylesports to lead at both half-time and full-time and 5/1 with Coral to win the match after drawing at the interval. Stan James offer 4/1 that both halves finish level and 9/2 on Sunderland/Sunderland, with draw/Sunderland available at 6/1 with Paddy Power.
Both sides look like relegation contenders this season after nightmare starts, but it is Wolves who are believed to be in the bigger danger, with William Hill offering just 5/2 that they finish in the drop zone. Sunderland are by no means safe, however, at 11/2 with Victor Chandler.
The game kicks off at 16.00 GMT and will be live on Sky Sports.Â
