Premier League West Bromwich Albion v Wigan Athletic Odds and Betting Preview

WEST BROMWICH, ENGLAND

 This Saturday sees Wigan travel to the Midlands for a clash with mid-table West Brom. We are enterring the crucial period of the season leading up to the New Year and the new transfer window. The Baggies find themselves 14th place in the league which seems disappointing in contrast with last season's top half finish. Wigan also will be looking to find some form as no one wants to be in the dreaded bottom spot they currently occupy, especially at the turn of the year. The hosts are favourites to win the tie at 8/11 with Paddy Power given their opponents poor start to the season.  Albion have been slowly edging closer and closer towards the relegation zone and will be very much aware of this. They drew at QPR last time which means they are five points clear of the bottom three. The serious injury to Zoltan Gera will have diminished Roy Hodgson's hopes somewhat. But the ex-liverpool boss will have his only conistent scorer at the moment in Shane Long available to play. The Baggies have been more than disappointing at home; they have only won twice and have only scored six goals.

 Wigan boss Javier Martinez probably thought things were on the up when his side snatched a late victory from Sunderland. Unfortunately an emphatic and dominant victory over them by Arsenal provided another reality check. The side will be desperate to avoid being 20th at Christmas as teams who have done this in the past notoriously get relegated. Antolin Alcaraz will return from his suspension and is likely to feature as is Hugo Rodellega.

 A 1-1 draw and a 1-0 West Brom win are both at 6/1 with Ladbrokes as the preferred scores. Both sides have been ineffectual in front of goal this season and so a goaless stalemate is at 10/1 with Coral. Baggies fans however have only seen one goaless draw in the last 95 matches.

 Both sides have been absolutely hopeless in attack so far this season. In all eight English and Scottish leagues Wigan are the second least composed in front of goal and West Brom the third from bottom with only 12 and 13 goals. Wigan's poor tally of goals for is somewhat surprising given their selection of strikers. Rodellega is the main hope for the visitors at 7/1 with Coral. Victor Moses has taken 43 shots this season without scoring at all. He is given odds of 14/1 bet365 to be a thorn in the side of all those at the Hawthorns.
