Premier League: Arsenal v Everton Odds and Betting Preview
By Jack Howard on 2011-12-10 13:06:40
LONDON, UK – Arsenal face Everton this afternoon in their eagerly anticipated Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium. Wenger’s side are currently ten points ahead of their opponents in the table, and start this particular encounter as 4/7 (bet £7 to make £4 profit) favourites with Paddy Power. For those punters anticipating an upset, however, Everton can be backed at 13/2 with Ladbrokes, whilst the draw is available at best odds of 3/1 with Victor Chandler.
Arsenal had a terrible start to the season, losing four of their opening seven matches as chaos presided at the Emirates. Since then, however, the North London club have won six games out of seven, propelling themselves into fifth place in the league. Wenger will be eager to extend the record with another three points against Everton, who have not won an away fixture against the Gunners since 1996. Everton may prove to be prickly opponents, however, as they currently have a record of three wins from six games on the road. Whether David Moyes’ men can secure more points away from home against an in-form Arsenal remains to be seen. All eyes will be on the Emirates stadium this afternoon.
In the over/under betting the top price on over 2.5 goals being scored is 9/4 with Coral, whilst under 2.5 goals is on offer at 11/10 with Ladbrokes. The bookmakers are clearly not anticipating a dreary goalless draw from this fixture, however, and punters can back under 0.5 goals being scored at longer odds of 12/1 with Stan James.
Robin van Persie is the man on form for the Gunners at the moment, having netted an astonishing 18 goals in his last 20 league appearances. The Dutch wizard currently leads the Premiership top scorer table with 14 goals this season, and it is therefore unsurprising that van Persie starts today’s game as 10/3 favourite with Skybet to open the scoring. Van Persie’s team mate Gervinho is also deemed likely to score first, and can be backed to do so at 7/1 with Ladbrokes, whilst ex-Everton player Mikel Arteta is on offer at 12/1 with Coral against his old club. Everton’s most threatening player, on the other hand, is thought to be Louis Saha, who is available to break the deadlock at 10/1 with Ladbrokes.
Arsenal are quoted at best odds of 7/5 with Stan James to win the match after leading at half time, whilst draw/Arsenal is on offer at 7/2 with Coral. Draw/Everton is available at a longer 16/1 with Boylesports, whilst Arsenal/Everton can be backed at odds as long as 60/1 with Paddy Power.
Kick-Off is at 15.00 GMT
