Premier League: Wigan v Chelsea Odds and Betting Preview

WIGAN, UK - Wigan play Andre Villas-Boas's improving Chelsea side in Saturday's late kick-off at the DW. The hosts are 9/1 longshots at Betfred to take a vital three points while Paddy Power are going 2/5 that the Blues grab a fourth straight league win. bet365 are quoting odds of 4/1 that the match ends a draw.
Three losses in four league matches and widespread media scrutiny left Villas-Boas under real pressure going into Chelsea's last three Premier League match days. His team's response? Three impressive wins, including two 3-0 thumpings and a 2-1 triumph against previously unbeaten Manchester City. After a well-deserved qualification to Champions League knock-out stages, the Blues boss is likely to feel his side has turned a corner, and the prospect of visiting struggling Wigan is unlikely to be costing him too much sleep.
Still, the Latics have shown fighting spirit of late, managing two wins in their last four games. Their current run has seen them climb to the top of the relegation pile, and a famous win here could see them climb to the lofty heights of 16th. Their home form, however, is atrocious, and Martinez's battlers remain 1/2 favourites at Coral to be relegated come May.
A comfortable away win looks on the cards: Coral are 13/2 on 2-0 Chelsea and Victor Chandler are giving the same price on 1-0. Punters can back the Londoners to record another 3-0 triumph at 10/1 with Unibet. Ladbrokes are going 9/1 on 1-1 and 10-1 on 0-0 - but for some big prices look no further than at the Wigan winning scorelines. 1-0 to the hosts comes in at 22/1 with Coral while 2-0 is a hefty 55/1 with Paddy Power.
Wigan have led at the interval in just 13% of games this season, so unsurprisingly Wigan/Wigan is an 18/1 outside chance with Boyle Sports in the double result prices. Chelsea/Chelsea might have more value at evens with Blue Square and Coral; Draw/Chelsea is on offer at 10/3 with the same two firms.
Nearly 60% of Wigan's home games have gone over 2.5 goals, and Ladbrokes are offering 8/13 that this one produces more than 2.5. Betfred are 13/8 on over 3.5 and high-street rivals William Hill are best price for under 1.5 at 7/2.
Didier Drogba's improved on-field performances of late have been a cause of optimism for Chelsea supporters, and the veteran front man is 4/1 favourite with Bet365 to net the game's first goal. Daniel Sturridge, with seven league goals this season, looks better value at 9/2 with Ladbrokes. Wigan's Jordi Gomez, who has managed three goals in four league games, is a 16/1 bet at Blue Square in the same market, and may well have his backers.
The match kicks off at 1730 GMT.
