Murray And Mcilroy Cut For Sports Award Ahead Of Finals
Coral bookmakers have cut the prices of Andy Murray, 8-1 (from 10-1) and Rory McIlroy, 20-1 (from 40-1) to win the BBC Sports Personality award following their superb efforts so far in their respective competitions this week.
Murray reached the final of the Rogers Cup in Toronto by beating Rafa Nadal in straight sets, he now faces Roger Federer in the final. While Rory McIlroy has an excellent chance of winning his first major, he is handily placed in second place, just three shots off the lead in the USPGA.
“Both are on the brink of big wins, and although the Irishmans would be by far the greater achievement, a win for either will see there prices cut even further,” said Coral spokesman Gary Burton.
Grand National winner Tony McCoy is still the clear favourite at 2-1.
