Pessimistic Punter Expects The Worst For Fri 13th
By Sarah Preece on 2010-08-12 18:32:24
(12 August 2010) One pessimistic Paddy Power punter has place a €10 bet that the world will end tomorrow at odds of 50,000/1.
The punter would win a cool €500,000 should his prediction prove correct, although with the world ending it may prove difficult to collect!
Paddy Power have also chalked up odds on thirteen things that probably won’t happen tomorrow but just might.
The most likely of the unlikely events is Ivor Callely resigning from The Seanad at 10/1, closely followed in the betting by Tiger Woods to announce his retirement at 25/1.
The less likelies include The Leaning Tower of Pisa to fall over at 1,000/1 and Brian Cowen announcing a probibition of alcohol at 5,000/1. The Pope is 1,000/1 to announce his resignation.
Paddy Power said, “That pessimistic punter has had a pretty optimistic flutter, and he needn’t worry about getting paid. Everyone knows that all bookies go to heaven!â€
