Tiger In Double Figures Ahead Of Us Pga

HEADLINES that feature Tiger Woods and the words `double figures` often relate to the fallen star`s private life. However this time around it`s because Tiger is trading at a two digit number on Betfair on the eve of a golfing major, an unwanted career first for the 34-year-old.
Following a year of tabloid revelations the world no.1 can be backed at 16-1 ahead of Thursday`s US PGA Championship - his biggest ever pre-major price on the betting exchange.
An appalling showing at last week`s WGC Bridgestone Invitational - a tournament he`d won seven times previously - finally convinced punters that they should take Woods on, and he can now be backed at more than three times his lowest traded price of 5-1 for the Whistling Straits showdown.
Only one man stands ahead of Woods in the betting, however, and that is old rival Phil Mickelson. But with the reigning Masters champ trading at 14-1 this looks to be the most wide open betting in a major for some time.
To win the US PGA Championship 2010
Betfair bet:
- 14-1 Phil Mickelson
- 16-1 Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy
- 19-1 Padraig Harrington
- 26-1 Steve Stricker
- 33-1 Ernie Els
