Alonso Favourite With The Bookies But Not The Fans

The controversial Ferrari one-two last weekend in Germany may have upset many racing fans around the world but with no race ban for the Ferrari the Italian team are the team to beat again this weekend. Paddy Power has Alonso as the 15/8 favourite to win the race.
Ferrari have laid down the gauntlet to the other two leading teams and are 5/1 to repeat their 1-2 in Germany, though extra scrutiny will be placed on which of their driver crosses the line first, but I think we can have a good guess. Red Bull is also 5/1 to occupy to top two places on the podium whilst a McLaren 1-2 is a less likely 14/1.
The two McLaren drivers still head the drivers’ championship and will need to use every trick in the book to keep the Ferraris and Red Bulls at bay. Hamilton is 6/1 and Button 14/1 to take race victory on a circuit that looks more suited to their rivals. Hamilton though is still joint favourite with Vettel at 2/1 for the 2010 Championship with Alonso close behind at 3/1.
Roberto Coladangelo, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “The Ferrari pace last weekend caused a huge upset in terms of both dominating the race and then controversially showing their hand about which driver they clearly favour for the Championship. Britain’s duo are in danger of slipping backwards down the table and will need to push hard to maintain their position in the overall standings.”
