Having dominated the opposition to lift the World Matchplay title in Blackpool at the weekend, Phil ‘the power’ Taylor now heads to Dinslaken in Germany to defend the European Championship title he has won for the last two years, and is a 1-2 favourite with Coral bookmakers. Blackpool runner-up, Raymond van Barneveld is 7-1.

“The Power is as unbeatable now as he was 10 years ago,” said Coral spokesman Gary Burton, “and we fully expect to be paying out on him once again.”

Taylor takes on Co Stompe in his first match and is 1-9 to win. The Dutchman is 5-1.

Coral cut the price of Taylor to win the BBC Sports Personality after his Blackpool win, he is now 10-1 (from 16-1).
