All bets are off on coldest ever January

Only ten days into a sub-zero 2010 and Paddy Power have suspended betting and are paying out on this month being the coldest January on record in Ireland.
The bookie had been forced to slash its odds on January making its way into the Irish record books after a flurry of bets placed by sharp-witted punters saw the odds tumble from 7/1 into 10/11.
Paddy Power said “We may be a few grand lighter this morning but it’s a small price to pay to brighten up an otherwise freezing day for our punters. Fair play to them!”
Paddy Power continue to offer a wide range of weather betting opportunities including for the temperature to break the Irish record low of -19.1°C at 6/1, Ireland to run out of gas at 4/1 and for 2010 to be coldest year on record in Ireland at 5/1 (cut from 12/1)
Weather Specials
- 5/1 2010 to be the coldest year of record (from 12/1)
- 4/1 Ireland to run out of Gas
- 6/1 Temp to break record low in Ireland of -19.1c
Cold Specials
- 10/1 Ryanair to introduce waiting charges for delayed passengers
- 28/1 River Liffey to freeze over
- 500/1 The Dublin Spire to deep freeze and snap in half
- 1000/1 Frosty the Snowman to be the next Tanaiste
