Paddy Power Airline betting takes off again

The latest demise in the airline industry today has dramatically renewed betting interest in the next airline to go bust.

Following an inundation of requests from punters Paddy Power has brought back its famous betting with Wizz Air the market leaders at 4/1 in the revised market. The Hungarian company is followed in the betting by fellow European airlines Finnair and Malev at 9/2 and 5/1, respectively.

However one name already attracting interest given their strike issues and daily losses is British Airways at 10/1 - although it could be argued punters are simply being attracted to the most recognisable name in the list.

Other names in the betting include Aer Lingus, also at 10/1, with Bmibaby and Thomson Airways at 12/1. Singapore Airlines are amongst the outsiders at 100/1.

Paddy Power said: “Punters and pundits haven’t forgotten the accuracy of our airline betting last year and we’ve been inundated with requests on which firm might be next to be grounded. It will be interesting to see who the money is talking for this time round.”
