Weekend football preview & offers - Modric 7/1 to score against Chelsea this season
By Sarah Preece on 2011-08-26 13:43:43
LUKA MODRIC is 7/1 with Ladbrokes to find the net against Chelsea in all competitions this season.
Modric should be in line to start against Manchester City where Tottenham find themselves to be the 15/8 underdogs. Undefeated City are 7/5 with the draw priced up at 23/10.
As with last weekend Chelsea are the shortest priced side on the card at 1/5 as they host new boys Norwich (14/1). Chelsea currently trade as 11/4 second favourites for the title behind Manchester United at 5/4.
The West-Midlands derby is the scene of the weekend's money back offer where the bookies will refund all WDW singles if a penalty is awarded in the match which Aston Villa are a shade of odds-on (10/11) to win. It's 12/5 the match ends square and high-flying Wolves are 3/1 to grab their third win on the bounce.
Steve Kean also appears to be under increasing pressure at Blackburn and he's the even money favourite in the sack race going into the weekend's fixtures. Should his side succumb to winless Everton he's expected to go odds-on for the boot before the final whistle is blown.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "Plenty of the weekend's games look wide open but as ever there are many bankers on the card. We'll be happy to see just one of them beat with Manchester United shaping up to be the best backed team."
He added: "We may be made to look silly by offering a penalty money back special in a feisty local derby. All we can hope is that the ref keeps a lid on things and doesn't point to the spot."
