Six Nations Rugby Union betting - Italy vs Scotland
By Matt Knowles on 2010-02-27 12:00:54
Today`s Six Nations match between Italy and Scotland features the only two teams in the Six Nations yet to win in the competition. Scotland have been unlucky, putting up a brave display against leaders France and outplaying Wales for much of their meeting. Italy went all of last year`s tournament without a win and will see Scotland as their best chance to end their current poor run.
Scotland go into the match as favourites at 8/13 (bet £13 to win £8 profit), leaving Italy as underdogs at 7/4 and the draw at 20/1. Last time out Scotland lost 31-24 to Wales after going down 18-9 to France in their opening game and Italy were beaten 30-17 by England having lost their first game 29-11 to the Irish.
Ladbrokes offer Scotland with a handicap of -7 points at 11/10 and -5 is at 10/11 with the same firm. Italy are available at 8/11 at +7, also with Ladbrokes, and are generally available at 10/11 with +5 points.
Scotland winger Sean Lamont has been made favourite to score the first try of the game, priced at 11/1, ahead of centre Max Evans and Italy`s Andrea Masi, both at 14/1. Gonzalo Canale, making his 52nd appearance for Italy today, is 16/1 and Graeme Morrison is available at the same price.
Scotland are 5/4 to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and 6/1 to win the match despite being behind at half-time. Italy are 10/3 to be winning at both the final whistle and the interval tonight but it is worth notnig that they have trailed at half-time in both of their previous fixtures. The bookmakers also offer 8/1 that the hosts win the match after doing so again.
Neither team can realistically win the Six Nations this year after such poor starts and Italy have been made favourites to win the `Wooden Spoon`, finishing bottom of the table, at 1/2. Scotland are 15/8 second favourites for the `award`.
