Six Nations Rugby Union betting - Wales vs France
By Matt Knowles on 2010-02-26 19:00:36
Wales welcome France to the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff tonight for their Six Nations match needing a win to remain in the running for the competition. However, they are up against a very tough France team that has won both its matches so far and sits top of the Six Nations Table having scored the most points, with 54, while conceding only 19. Wales, by contrast, are looking vulnerable and have conceded 54 points in only two games.
The visitors are, as expected, favourites for the match at 4/9 (bet £90 to win £40 profit), leaving Wales as home underdogs at 9/4 with William Hill, with the draw priced at 22/1. Last time out France crushed Ireland 33-10 at the Stade de France, having already beaten Scotland 18-9 in their opening match. Wales also won their last game, but were fortunate to get past Scotland 31-24 and were beaten 31-17 by England before that.
In the handicap betting -7 points for the favourites is available at 1/1 with Bet365, with -3 at 4/7. A +7 point bet on Wales is priced at 1/1 with Bet365 and +3 is 6/4 with Stan James. Paddy Power offer 7/1 that the match ends in a draw if France are given a handicap of +7 points.
France are 5/6 with William Hill to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and 13/2 to win win Wales leading at the interval. Wales are 4/1 to be winning at the end of each half and are available at 9/1 to win at full-time having been behind at the half-way stage.
Julien Malzieu has been made favourite to score the first try of the match tonight at 11/1, followed by Alexis Palisson at 12/1, with Shane Williams, Leigh Halfpenny and Mathieu al at 14/1.
The bookmakers see France as being very difficult to beat and have made them strong favourites at 4/11 to win the Six Nations this year. Wales have been poor, even in victory, and are 20/1 to win the competition after only two matches.
