Six Nations Rugby - Italy vs England
By Harry Maude on 2010-02-14 13:06:24
Italy host England in the Six Nations today, hoping to pick up a win somehow to avoid losing all six matches for the second year running. England will be confident ahead of the match, having played well in their first match, beating Wales 30-17. Italy, however, had a tough time in their opener, losing 29-11 to Ireland.
England are heavy favourites for the match, with a best price of 1/9 (bet £90 to make £10 profit). Italy are priced at 10/1 for the win, and as always a draw is unlikely, priced at 33/1.
On the handicap betting, England are rated as 14 or 15 point favourites, and the best way to take advantage of the discrepancy is to bet on England -14 at evens, and Italy +15 at evens. The draw on the handicap has a best price of 20/1 on the 15 point handicap, and 16/1 on the 14 point handicap.
England will be boosted by the return of Rickey Flutey, who will come in at inside centre, and this completes a very attacking back line, with his try-scoring prowess coupled with the pace of Matthew Tait. England wingers Ugo Monye and Mark Cueto are joint favourites to be the first try scorer, both priced at 9/1. Tait and fullback Delon Armitage are next at 12/1, and Flutey is at 14/1. Italy`s Andrea Masi is their best hope, priced at 25/1.
The total points Over / Under line is at 42.5 points, and either can be backed at 5/6. With England`s back line looking capable of scoring a lot of tries, the Over looks to be a good bet.
England are third favourites for the championship, priced at 3/1 with William Hill. They are the outsiders for the Grand Slam, priced at 7/1. Italy are an extremely unlikely 1000/1 to win the championship, and cannot win the Grand Slam.
