Scottish Premier League football - Kilmarnock vs Celtic
By Matt Knowles on 2010-02-02 18:30:46
Celtic travel to Kilmarnock tonight in the Scottish Premier League hoping to reduce the huge ten-point advantage currently held over them by bitter rivals Rangers. The hoops failed to win the league last season for the first time in four years and will be desperate to win tonight to have some hope of regaining the title.
The visitors are favourites for the game at 2/5 (bet £50 to win £20 profit), leaving the hosts as big underdogs at 8/1. Neither side is in good form going into the game and Celtic have won only two of their last five matches. However, Kilmarnock have been far worse, winning only once in their last thirteen matches. The draw is available at 4/1.
The bookmakers seem to think an away win is n the cards and have made a 2-0 win for Celtic the favourite score for the match at 6/1, slightly ahead of 1-0 at 13/2, with 3-0, the score last time the teams met, available at 9/1. 101 is at the same price and a goalless draw is at 16/1, with a shock 1-0 win for Kilmarnock at 20/1.
Greek striker Georgios Samaras has been made favourite to open the scoring tonight at 9/2, ahead of team-mates Diomansy Kamara, signed on loan from Fulham yesterday, and Aiden McGeady at 5/1 and 8/1 respectively. Scottish forward Kevin Kyle is seen as Kilmarnock`s best chance of scoring the first goal tonight, priced at 11/1.
Celtic are 1/1 to lead tonight at both half-time and full-time and 7/2 to win the match after drawing at half-time. The bookmakers offer 7/1 that both halves end in a draw and Kilmarnock are available at 18/1 to lead at both the interval and the final whistle, with draw/Kilmarnock at 20/1.
Tony Mowbray`s Celtic are second favourites to win the Scottish Premier League this season and despite trailing Rangers by ten points are 2/1 to bring the title back to Celtic Park.
